Homework Homework will occasionally come home. Most will be unfinished classwork or projects. Students will have time pockets throughout the day to work on classwork, and if time is used wisely, students should not have a lot of extra work to do at home.
Missing and Late work If a student has missing or late assignments, they will be responsible for finishing them by the end of the week. We are still finalizing our schedules, but there will be time on Friday afternoons for these students to finish their missing or incomplete work. This also means that they will miss out on something fun that other students will get to participate in - whether it be a recess, games, movie, etc. Discipline Your child will adhere to the Huntington school-wide PBiS program. Please see the handbook for more information.
Grading Students are graded using a standards based system. This is a scale of 1-3, with 1 being limited to no understanding of the standard being measured, and 3 being full understanding. 8:35 is the Bell School starts at 8:35, students are NOT allowed in the hallway, at their locker, or in the classroom before the bell rings (except safeties). We know for some students this will be a big change from last year. Please have them wait outside by the 4-5 doors until the bell rings. You also have the option of using Latchkey. (see the office for info) If a student has a question regarding classwork or if they forgot something, they need to email us the night before, we will email them back and let them know when a good time is to drop by before school starts. As teachers this is our time for meetings, planning, and getting lessons ready and we cannot always monitor our classrooms with students in them.
Again, we look forward to teaching your child and working with you to help your child achieve their fullest potential. Please don’t hesitate to contact us. Thank you, Mrs. Haydon
